Teaching in the Dominican Republic

God has allowed me to teach at “Las Palmas Christian School” in San Pedro for the past several years. On July 29, 2020, I packed two large duffel bags, two carry-on suitcases, a backpack, and a pillow and moved to the Dominican Republic. I gave my car back to the dealership, as well as sold my furniture and most of my belongings on Craigslist because I hope to stay as long as God will allow.

The school provides a small living stipend, but it isn’t enough to cover the cost of living.

There are moments when I have no idea what I’m doing, but most of the time I cannot believe I live in this beautiful and foreign land. For ten years, it has been my dream to move to the Dominican Republic and I’m finally here. Pure, contagious joy is apparent in the eyes of children who experience scarcity every day. I admire their resiliency and love spending my days teaching them.

"Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel... Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should."
