Why Spain? Why Barcelona?
I initially wanted to go to Peru, but upon further research, I found it was not a recommended country for solo travelers. However, I wanted to go to a country where Spanish was the most popular language.
I teach English to students who speak Spanish, so I can understand the language. If I got lost, I could ask for directions. If I was going to travel across the world by myself, I needed to be able to ask for help.
I also googled the safest countries for a woman to visit alone and out of a list of 50, Spain is the safest. In fact, it is number 50. The United States of America is more dangerous than Spain.
After arriving at the Barcelona airport, taking a shuttle into the city and walking twenty minutes to a hotel only accessible by pedestrian streets, I could relax and breathe. I made it.
Here is a list of the places I visited during my week in Spain. While they were all worthwhile, they are listed starting with my least favorite location and ending with the best tourist attraction (according to a solo traveler with a budget).

Palau de la Musica Catalana Tour
Hop-On and Hop-Off Bus Tour
