Welcome Home!

Updated: May 12, 2020

Here are some ideas for what to do when family or friends go on vacation and travel the world without you...

5. Snowmen

My brother and I spent about an hour making these snowmen. My parents just went to the store for this one, but we would have made more snowmen if we had more time. As Dwight Schrute says, "In the end, the greatest snowball isn't a snowball at all...it's fear. Merry Christmas." (The Office)

4. Plastic Wrap

We only ended up using about 4 rolls of plastic wrap. The Industrial Strength Hand Stretch Wrap cost $20. It took four of us about an hour to wrap everything in the room, including the rug and clothes in the closet.

3. Aluminum Foil

This welcome home "prank" took my brother and me 3 hours to finish. I bought 10 rolls of foil from the dollar store for $10.

2. Post It Notes

This took 2 people 2 hours. 3,500 Post-It notes cost about $15. Since the Post-It notes have sticky tape, I would not recommend leaving them on the vehicle for more than one day. Otherwise, they will be difficult to get off.

1. Balloons

This took 3 people roughly 3 hours to do. The 600 balloons were $25 and the pump was $20. The Portable Dual Nozzle Electric Balloon Blower Pump was a worthy investment because we could fill two balloons at the same time. This "welcome home surprise" was highly worth it and the most fun to play with.

That night, we ended up moving the balloons downstairs. The flight my parents were on was significantly delayed and they were not getting home until 2 AM. We figured they just wanted to sleep in their bed when they got home, which would have been covered by balloons if we did not move them.

An hour later, the balloons have been moved.
